Disney Xtreme Digital Experience

Disney Xtreme Digital Experience was a new interactive environment that launched on Disney.com in 2007 allowing guests to watch videos, play games, collect, and chat. My role was to art direct the overall experience as well as all the business unit and franchise channels. In addition, I was the liaison between the development team and creative for all implementation issues.

The DXD experience was built on Flash technology which posed challenges to file formats, optimization, and asset management. Modules for video, games, chat, and collections were themed for each franchise IP via dynamic skins generated by my team. Extensive creative management of the templates kept all channels on brand. Coordination with the development team and the understanding of the limitations of Flash was a great learning experience. The project required the entire creative organization to mobilize and led to a successful launch.

The Disney.com redesign and DXD were announced at CES in 2007 by Bob Iger in his keynote address. Disney.com was awarded an Emmy in 2007 in partnership with Disney Channel for the Disney Channel Games on Disney Xtreme Digital.
